Meet Mrs. French
Mrs. French
Welcome to Social Studies with Mrs. French! I'm excited to be your teacher, and I hope you enjoy our journey through the world this year. Social studies is a class where we learn about other cultures while looking at our own backgrounds, too. Please use this website as a place to get
updates, send messages, print materials, and find links to many great resources.
I have been teaching social studies for over 20 years and love sharing the most up to date information out there about our ever-changing world. I received my bachelor and master degrees in education from Grand Valley State University in the 1990s. I have taught at the elementary, middle school and college levels. I have been teaching social studies at Mill Creek since 1996!
Outside of teaching I have many interests. I live west of Comstock Park with my husband, two kids, and a beagle. We love the outdoors. In the summer we love to camp; in the fall we love to use our jeep to go four-wheeling and in the winter you'll find us up north snowmobiling and snowboarding every chance we get! And, in case you were wondering...we're huge SPARTAN fans! Go State!

Keeping Track of Grades & Homework
1. Student Planner – Assignments are gone over daily at the start of class; students are expected to copy this information into their planner.
2. Facebook – “Like” the Mill Creek Middle School – 6th Grade Facebook page.
3. Sign up for the free app called REMIND. Students were given the information for this-it's a free text message and/or email to remind you about homework and other important dates.
4. Social Studies Progress Reports – I print a social studies progress report and give these to students every 2-3 weeks. The school sends out a full progress report every three weeks. Parent signature is required on the school progress report and it should be returned to the student's exploration teacher.
5. Power School - Parents and students have access to all of the student's grades through the power school grade book. You can get your password and access information through the office.
